About Us

Johnson Seed & Ag Service is a full service planter shop owned by Peter Johnson of Lake Lillian. We have been in business for 10+ years and currently have two locations.  One in Lake Lillian, MN and one in Belgrade, MN. We are currently dealers for Precision Planting, Pioneer Seed and CopperHead Ag Closing Wheels. We can help you build your planter from the ground up or just help you make a couple changes to benefit your yields.

Peter Johnson | Lake Lillian Office

Peter Johnson, of Johnson Ag Services, grew up on a 500-acre farm near Lake Lillian, MN. In 2003 he graduated from Willmar High School. After high school Johnson studied teaching at Mankato State for 2 years. In 2004, he started managing his family’s farm for his dad. During that time Johnson realized his heart wasn’t in teaching, so he switched his course focus and graduated in the fall of 2007 with a 2-year degree specializing in agriculture. During the time he was helping his dad Johnson realized that his heart was at home on the farm, so he started renting from his parents in 2008.  Things took a turn in February of 2008 when the opportunity to own a Pioneer Dealership came his way. In addition to all of the other major changes in his life Johnson also married his high school sweetheart, Ashley, the same year.
Johnson wanted to provide even more services for his farmers so in 2011 he joined Precision Planting. He enjoyed bringing more services to his farmers so much that he wanted to become even more efficient for them. To achieve this, Johnson formed a partnership with Jason Schaefer, Schaefers Precision Planting, in the Spring of 2016.

Nick Hanson | Belgrade Office

Nick Hanson has 12 years of experience in the ag industry. His family still farms in the Worthington area today. Hanson brought his vast knowledge of data management and seed prescription to Schaefers Precision Planting a year ago (2016) this June. He strives for accuracy with every Harvest/Planting Map and Overlay Comparison he completes and treats every farmer like family. Nick, his wife Nikita and their twins, Jack and Liv, make their home in Willmar. Nick enjoys helping farmers with everything from their planters, combines and reading their yield response data to scouting fields. Hanson said, “Technology is amazing. I’m astounded at how far it has come over even the last couple years. I want to help farmers get the most out of their fields and gathering the best data, Precision Planting products helps to make this process even more efficient.”
